Our client recognises the importance of having skilled and motivated managers and a business that is focused on client satisfaction at all levels and have asked us to support them to build on their successes in these areas.  EPC have developed a three day Foundations in Management programme currently being rolled out to groups of managers across the business and will deliver the first round of a two day Customer Excellence programme before the end of the summer.  A number of these programmes will be run during 2011.</p>

<p>The phrase performance management can bring even the most motivated of people out in a cold sweat.  Visions of sitting with our manager on a once or twice yearly basis going through an elaborate appraisal document for two hours and then leaving with no clearer understanding of how well we are performing or the areas we need to improve.</p>
<p>For a manager the phrase can be equally daunting with the difficulty of having to speak to someone about poor performance and the burden of having to do multiple appraisals, with a complicated process that brings little value.</p>
<p>A formal performance management framework in any organisation is a good idea to ensure that performance information is captured in a consistent and equitable way on a regular basis; however, it should not be used as the only time to speak with staff and review performance against expectations.  Communication on progress and performance should be an ongoing process.</p>
<p>To improve our approach to performance management we need to deliver tangible changes in the way we manage our staff and the processes we develop. To help this happen we will be running a workshop on Thursday 5<sup>th</sup> May at the Radisson Blu Hotel Edinburgh and would be delighted if you could come along.<span id="more-289"></span></p>
<p>The workshop will provide practical steps, guidelines and tools to support the development of an effective performance management culture in your organisation.  Through group work, discussion and case study review the workshop will look at the practical challenges of managing performance and ways to overcome them.</p>
<p>Our aim is to get people mixing, have some fun and help you learn new skills. We are keen to keep the costs manageable for delegates. The cost of £110 +VAT per person includes a full day workshop, lunch and refreshments, and a workshop handbook to take away with you.  Numbers on the day will be restricted to 12.</p>
